Benelux Next Top Model

The Benelux is attempting another season of Next Top Model. I say attempting as this season’s episodes seem lacking. Lacking of vision, glamour and fashion.

Let me share with you my view…

The program seems to have been made on a shoe string, the girls are sleeping in bunk beds and the production gives me the feeling the recession is making a big difference to the budget. The girls where made to do a shoot for Ecco, not the best choice fashion wise and one of the main sponsors is C&A, these are not your most fashionable brands from most point of views.

What about the girls and their appearance?

Whoever is responsible for their hair needs help. We all love the show where the hair gets cut off. When done properly, it serves a dual purpose. Firstly, to teach the girls that they need to be open to changing their appearance at a regular basis and secondly to make them look better. Or so it would seem….let me share some before and after shots with you. They tell aspiring model Bianca they want to give her an edgy, editorial look. Well, they could have done that by giving her Rihanna’s haircut, now she looks like punk rock junkie from the seventies and not in a good way.

Poor girl, I thought this shoot was a bit too far out there but to do a make over like this, that’s just bad.
Of course I forget this is a TV show and not something made to actually help these girls, so I suppose ratings are what counts.

Fashionable and traditional!

The new accessory label NOOSA has launched their first line of belts in the Netherlands. The belts are unique in the sense that you can add a personal touch to the belt with so called chunks.

An example of a wide belt:

The chunks have been produced in Nepal through Fair Trade which is an added bonus. I really like these belts, they are affordable (from 49 euros and from 5,95 per chunk) and contemporary.

the time has come… #fall #fashion #2009

It’s that time of year again. I took some time this weekend to change my wardrobe from summer appropriate to fall appropriate.  My wardrobe is now fall ready and I have cleaned out a couple of items that I am selling on Fashion Vintage.

Must say it feels great to sell a couple of things and use the proceeds to update my fall wardrobe. So far I have purchased a new Zara wintercoat and a grey sweater. I am looking forward to receiving my Asos order, which contains a black jacket with a ‘power shoulder’ … eighties much?

Next purchase? ankle boots or grey tall boots at Daniele Dentici’s shoe salon.

Have fun shopping for fall! I know I am.

Fashionair

What do I love most? fashion and entertainment.  What magazines do I read… you got it, fashion magazines.

Where do all of these things come together? At Fashionair, created by Net-a-Porter alum, Sojin Lee and British music mogul, Simon Fuller. The current beta version is pretty promising.  Might become an entirely new addiction for yours truly.

Check it out here.
