What do I love most? fashion and entertainment.  What magazines do I read… you got it, fashion magazines.

Where do all of these things come together? At Fashionair, created by Net-a-Porter alum, Sojin Lee and British music mogul, Simon Fuller. The current beta version is pretty promising.  Might become an entirely new addiction for yours truly.

Check it out here.

I love this! Andre Leon Talley shares his tennis style…. LV all the way, I love his towel. This man is uber fabulous. Unbelievable…. amazing.

The US release is getting closer and Anna Wintour is promoting her film, The September Issue. Watch this clip of her on David Letterman. I think she handles herself very well. Plus, she looks amazing, skin of a twenty year old, how do you do that Ms Wintour?

Just returned from a short vacation in Rome, Italy. What an amazing place, you can feel the history of the Roman Empire everywhere you go. Devotion was palpable when walking on St Peter’s square.

Of course you are not visiting fashiontweet to read about history and the catholic church… so lets get back to what matters, fall fashion!

What I noticed most was the eighties trend and plaid…

This green colour combined with the plaid reminds me what I use to wear when I was teenager in the late eighties, with the gold chains and everything.  The colours are very warm, perfect for fall.

If you were not aware of the platform shoe trend than you have probably been living under a rock… I have been trying to pretend I could get away with another fall without platform pumps but I’m afraid my time has come. I shall probably purchase a pair in the next two months, it will take me a while to find a pair I can walk on. What I did purchase, shoe wise, is a pair of fantastic men’s shoe for girls, see below.

THE trip is getting closer and closer, today is March 10th so I will be in New York in a little over three weeks. I shall be writing an article about my experiences and preperations for this trip for Grazia. It will be a part of their Challenges section, in which someone shares their experience with a certain challenge with the public.

My particular challenge will be going to the greatest city on earth for shopping and culture and NOT overspend…. The only way I can begin to fathom such a thing is through some serious preparation and agreements made prior to the trip. What kind of agreements, well how much time will be spent shopping and how much money?

I had an interesting day today and met some very interesting people. . . Firstly I had coffee with a photographer I met through Twitter, Martijn Zijerveld. I enjoyed our conversation. His approach to life and work was very interesting and inspiring. Please visit his website to check out his portfolio. I’m pretty sure we will get a chance to work together.

Next, Martijn took me to the Leger des Stijls showroom/store. This is not your run of the mill store with a high profile facade, its a genuinly interesting place.  The collection of Leger des Stijls consists of t shirts, sweaters and hooded sweaters, all with a print unique to Leger des Stijls.

Whilst I was in the store I came up with the term ’boutique street’. The clothes are ’streetwear’ but are so original and of good quality they have a boutique feel to them. The LegerDesStijls Crew produces street credible outfits that stand out by combining street elements with the latest trends in high end fashion and Dutch design.  Be sure to check out their website.

I was able to chat with the Creative Director, Dominic van Dijk, of Leger des Stijls and listen to his view of the label and the plans they have.  I will be sure to keep my eye on Leger des Stijls. I was assured by Dominic he has some high profile plans for the label and we should hear more about these plans soon.

Well its my birthday today, and I thought I would reflect on the past year or so.

Moving to Amsterdam and losing my job were the major things that happened last year I suppose. Looking back and forward both are very positive experiences.

The job lost has forced me to re-examine my professional life. Fashion and lifestyle has been such a huge part of my life and now I am happy to report my days are mostly filled with just that.

Of course I am still searching for a job and am in the running for two, both are part time office management positions that would be a great basis from which to work in fashion on the days that remain.

Let me share with you the fashion and writing adventures that have come my way…

In the next two weeks I shall be working on two fotoshoots with Rianne a gorgeous model I met on Twitter. We have some great plans for these shoots and as soon as I can reveal more I shall.

As for the biggest opportunity to date: I have been selected as a finalist for the Styletoday Fashion Blogger contest. As soon as the contest goes live I shall let you all know so you can vote for me!!

YES WE CAN !!!!!!

Well it seems the colours of my early adolesence are back. Pastels are HUGE this spring. I have seen them all over town and shall report to you with some photo’s later. In the mean time, a little preview from our friends at Sephora:

So these are the brighter version of pastel colours. Rest assured (well assured I ain’t so sure) there are many lighter, paler versions of these colours out there. And not just to combine with your blue or grey jeans, no lets wear pink with yellow jeans, minty green with light blue. Well you may be getting the picture. I am a little frightened of the prospect of all these pastels, especially on the pale Dutch. Then again, it might just make us all feel light hearted and positive. . .

Marilyn Monroe by Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon’s work is being shown in Foam Photography Museum on the Keizersgracht here in Amsterdam.  I was able to attend the press preview last Tuesday and was very impressed by this exhibition of his work. The collection has been put together by The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark with Foam and The Richard Avedon Foundation.
