Wow, don’t even know where to start, maybe the beginning. . . Got a call from a model friend who said she was able to organise some backstage passes for Amsterdam International Fashion Week yesterday morning.

I ran upstairs, got in the shower and started making myself look presentable for a fashionweek visit. . . I met with @Marlooz, a famous dutch Twitterazi and off we went. Her sister Josh was doing the EnD by Eva and Delia show. Which by the way was amazing, but more about that later.

We walked in, checked out the backstage area and set ourselves up to do some interviews with models, a catwalk coach, a model agent, McKey’s (the winner of America’s Next Top Model) boyfriend  and met with lots of other people.

One of the first things that I noticed backstage is how much time is spent waiting, for makeup and hair, choreography, fittings and finally the show. The models are requested to arrive about 5 hours prior to show, after their hair and make up is done, the waiting begins, and might I add, the eating. Yes, models eat !

Let’s look at some photo’s

Going to work on my interview’s this weekend and post them asap. Watch for a video of the EnD show as well !!

Janice @ Modefabriek

Janice @ Modefabriek

I was able to meet with Janice at the Modefabriek last Monday. What a great character he was. Very warm and friendly and knowledgeable about his craft. Janice participated in the dutch version of Project Runway a little while ago and has been steadily working and furthering his career. His clothes are classic, well made and the fabrics are of very high quality. Click here for his website.

We had a nice chat about his collection for fall/winter 2009/2010, which is inspired by his view of an Italian Mafia Family and his own family. Main colours are red, black and beige. We spoke about his inspiration and how interesting it is that Amsterdam is known as the fashion capital of the Netherlands but you can find many more well coiffed and dressed women in a city like Maastricht, in the south.

Whilst chatting with Janice a friend of his showed up, entrepreneur Imke Emons, she has her own Spa in Horst that I will be sure to visit. She is a well known dutch make up artist and it was lovely to meet her. I asked about her inspiration and she mentioned Kevin Aucoin, only my favourite make up artist of all time. . .

I would love to book a workshop at her Spa and learn.

Dearest Readers,

I’ve been gone for a while as you will have noticed, unfortunately the wifi connection failed relatively soon after arriving in Bonaire. Anyways, back now and ready to write. I started writing for viva.nl, click here for that blog.

Spent a few hours in town today, walked to a lunch date on the Museumplein and made my way through the Pijp neighbourhood. A couple of new things in the windows but mostly sales items in store. As soon as I can I shall go out and check out the new collections of which I have seen a couple of previews.

Great to share with you my vacation was fantastic and coming back home was also nice. . .

Back tomorrow, xoxo fashiontweet

I’ve been thinking about trends I want to write about, not the kind of trends that when you wear them you feel like your just trying to hard, but rather trends that create a feeling of longing and wanting.

So here it goes, I’ve been reading a lot about nude coloured clothes, shoes and accessories. As nude clothes can be a really hard thing to pull off if your not tanned or naturally dark I will concentrate on nude shoes for now.

Nude is the new black

A little selection of shoes I love, these are all designer, but I am pretty sure Zara and such will make some cute knock offs in case we cannot afford the designer versions.

These are nude slingbacks I got for a wedding last year, they are of the perfect height for occasions when you know you will be wearing them for a good while…
